Did you know that we are the first of the
second degree cooperatives in Argentina and America?
Yes, we are a Cooperative made up of cooperatives. It all began in the
20's when we started a transforming movement through which, using a
cooperative model, we intended to defend Argentine´s primary production
against the economic and social reality. On February 16, 1922 in Rosario
we set up our organization with the name of Asociación de Cooperativas
Rurales Zona Central.
What were the cooperatives that
participated in the foundation? Sociedad Cooperativa
Agricultores Unidos de San Jorge, Sociedad Cooperativa Mutua Agrícola de
Noetinger, Unión Agrícola de Leones Sociedad Cooperativa, Sociedad
Cooperativa Agrícola Armstrong, Sociedad Molino Cooperativo de Arequito,
Sociedad Cooperativa “El Trabajo” de Devoto, Cooperativa Agrícola de
Oliva, Sociedad Cooperativa Agrícola de la Colonia Santa Teresa Estación
Totoras, Sociedad Molino Cooperativo de Carmen, Cooperativa Agrícola
Tortugas Limitada y Cooperativa “La Vencedora” de Hernando. In 1927,
more than 30 cooperatives had already joined this great initiative. As
from that milestone, we are the Argentine Association of Cooperatives
(ACA). We guarantee the balance between economic growth, social welfare
and care for the environment in all the processes we carry out.
We are a participatory
and democratic organization which, through a national assembly, made up
of more than 450 delegates from the cooperatives, elects the Board of
Directors that will lead ACA decisions-making.
Regional Advisory Councils (CAR)
We have 8 Advisory Councils made up of representatives of the
cooperatives based in an area: · They advise on the area´s issues and
problems related to the production and industrialization of products of
the region. · They collaborate with the Board of Directors. · They make
suggestions of a general nature.

Together with our
Associated Agricultural Cooperatives, La Segunda Insurance Group,
Coovaeco, Aca Salud and Fundación Nodos we assume a true identity with
the aim of giving rise to a large group of leading Production and
Service Cooperatives nationwide. We are a Cooperative Group that came
together to give a response to health, patrimonial security, recreation
and relationship.
On the other hand, our
Related Companies permit us to be present at different links of the
agro-industrial chain, reinforcing the geographical presence in the
territory.
We preserve our
Cooperative origin and are part of the most prominent companies of our
activity.
We are 2900 individuals who,
in 8 provinces and more than 95 localities, work for the development of our
cooperative system. In our plants, offices, ports, industries, or in the
fields, our people´s human and professional quality fosters the integration
and enhances our businesses in economic, social, cultural and technological
aspects.
Together with the La
Segunda Insurance Group, Aca Salud and Coovaeco Turismo we created the
Fundación
NODOS. A common space to contribute to the development of each
organization and the communities where we operate, through the
comprehensive training and professionalization of its members,
maintaining and deepening cooperative values.
NODOS also intends
to promote the integration and empowerment of the Cooperative Group, in
economic, social, cultural, technological, process and human resources
aspects.
ACA has two institutional journals: ” La
Cooperación”, a cooperative newspaper that has been published
since October 31, 1924 and that reflects the association's economic and
social activity.
“ACAECER”, since 1974 a magazine
that has brought readers the technological news in agriculture and
livestock.
